How I told my husband I was Pregnant!

How I told my husband I was pregnant?! Wow, I can’t believe it has been almost a year! Keaton has been here for 3 months now and to say that now my life is better than ever – is an understatement.

It was a Wednesday when I found out I was pregnant. Physical symptoms were non-existent and never in my life would I expect a pregnancy test to come back positive. I took it merely just try it and see what it would say (expecting a negative sign of course). I was working at a convention in Anaheim later that afternoon and had a plan to meet up with Brandon on Friday at Stagecoach. I took the test that morning and to my surprise it came back positive! I remember pacing around the house thinking what is going on? I then took another test and that came back positive too!! I decided that I needed a few more tests so I walked about a mile with my dog to our local Walgreens. I have literally no idea why I didn’t drive as it would have been much faster than to walk a mile there and a mile back. I bought 3 other brands and I remember telling the checkout clerk that I had already taken a few,  and he said that I probably didn’t need to buy anymore. I got home and as you probably can already figure out the other tests were positive too. I ended up calling a doctor’s office that I am close with and the nurses fit me in the schedule for an hour later. Once I got to the doctor’s office, they told me to pee on another stick and confirmed that YES I REALLY AM PREGNANT (as if the other 5-6 tests were wrong?)! I honestly still can’t believe it and our beautiful baby boy is already here!

5 Tips to Going Vegan

5 Tips to going Vegan

  1.  Know your reason why you want to become vegan. Are you doing it for health reasons, the environment or for the animals? When you feel like you’re struggling go back to this and remember the reason you are doing it in the first place.
  2.   Go at your own pace. I did not turn vegan overnight and you might not either. That is OK! Every step you make is another step in the right direction. You will get there ! If you need a vegan mentor please feel free to reach out to me. You can reach me on my Facebook Page, Instagram or email plantbasedmommyblog@gmail.com . There are also tons of facebook groups you can join in order to get help from others as well!
  3. Be prepared for questions and comments from others. Your eating will not be the hardest part about going vegan, at least it wasn’t for me! The social aspect is much harder to deal with then not eating any animal products! You will get the question about where you get your protein(which you can state from beans, quinoa, brown rice, vegetables, lentils etc) and you will here the comment “I could never give up meat or cheese” over and over and over again. Let this roll off your shoulder. Those who want to listen and care will. It’s not worth getting into an argument over. People always have opinions so just humble yourself and keep moving on to a healthier lifestyle !
  4. Buy some vegan cookbooks and clean out your fridge! This is so easy and fun ! If you don’t have any animal products in your house you are less likely to eat them ! So get rid of them and open up a new cookbook and get cooking ! You will not only feel better with this lifestyle but will have more energy to be able to cook! Below are some of my all time favorite cookbooks!

*   Deliciously Ella: 100+ Easy, Healthy, and Delicious Plant-Based, Gluten-Free Recipes

Home Birth VS Hospital Birth- What’s the difference?

Home birth vs hospital birth – what are the differences? When you first find out you’re pregnant, one of the first thoughts that probably enters your mind is to see an OBGYN. Why is this? Because it’s the norm? There is a lesser known another option with several names – Midwifery, natural Out-of-Hospital Birth, or using a Midwife for an At-Home-Birth, that may be more suited for the birth that you want. So, what is a midwife and what can she do? Midwives specialize in low-risk, normal pregnancy, birth and postpartum care. Midwives believe in birthing naturally either at your home or a birth center. By using a midwife, you have more of a hands on approach to your pregnancy and delivery and are not subjected to many procedures that you may not need during your pregnancy. When you use a midwife, you are much less likely to use pain medication and your risk of C-Section is statistically reduced. With midwifery care, you are less likely to have complications or have the need for medical interventions, such as Pitocin to speed your labor along. You are given the time to let your body go through the process of delivering a happy and healthy baby!
